A True Crime Listening Event and Panel featuring the work of The Shadow Girls an investigative podcast series on the Green River Killer that has redefined the true crime genre.
The Shadow Girls debuted at #7 on the global charts in 2022 and has over 2 million downloads and featured the unacknowledged heroine, Rebecca Garde. Rebecca’s story of survival was lost to time: she survived the GRK, had the courage to come forward in the 1980s, but her lifestyle got her shunned by the same society she helped rescue from the clutches of a monster.
Join us to hear the story of the only woman to survive the Green River Killer, who came forward with a tip that would ultimately lead to the GRK’s capture and the resolution that has come to the case, including payment of a long overdue reward to Rebecca. And where the investigation is today by the people who worked the case for decades.
Panelists:
The creative team behind The Shadow Girls, Stolen Voices of Dole Valley and “Team Rebecca” Carolyn Ossorio and Branden Morgan discuss their ongoing mission to share the stories of “imperfect witnesses.”
Additionally, “Team Rebecca” members: Anne Bremner, Dave Reichert and retired King County Detective Tom Jensen discuss the Green River Killer investigation and how the systemic neglect and dismissal of survivors has incalculable effects on victims, their families and society.
Dave Cawley, host of the groundbreaking Cold podcast will join the panel to discuss the latest on the Susan Cox Powell case.
NWCAVE is hosting the event at the Hilton. Nate Eaton will moderate. Legendary crime fighter Paul Holes who helped solve the Golden State Killer case will also be at the event as a special guest.
